THE STORY OF

LOU ArteCeramica

I have always looked to the world of  ceramics with the deep desire to be part of it.

I was professionally trained in Piedmont, in Valenza in the province of Alessandria, as a jewelry designer, there I refined my taste for detail, for the sought after .

I have had other experiences, as a decorator I have collaborated with restorers and I have deepened passions such as design, furniture and illustration.

When the opportunity presented itself, I was able to “pour out” professional experiences  and passions in ceramics, definitively captured by the history, the charm and the expressive possibilities that ceramics offers.

Ceramic is a severe discipline: what one imagines, designs and creates must pass the hardest test: that of fire! My passion would soon have died out if I hadn't met in the surroundings of Bassano, in the province of Vicenza, where I work, artisans who are custodians of ancient knowledge that they generously shared with me.

Moreover, in Bassano and its surroundings, the working of ceramics dates back to the seventeenth century. , three centuries of history, a very long time and yet nothing compared to the known relationship between man and ceramics that dates back to the Neolithic! In our life, so different from that of the distant ancestor, ceramic is still present, those who love to own it, use it and those like me who design and decorate it, satisfying the ancient and extraordinary need, typical of man, to want the objects of which it surrounds itself, even if created to respond to practical reasons, must be, as well as useful, also “beautiful”.

I use various techniques, I mix them, I try to propose them in a new way, because nothing can really think of inventing in ceramics! In particular, I use an engraving technique that I have developed with subsequent experiments, making use of the indispensable skills of the territory, without which it would not be possible for me to fully express my creativity.

When my path crossed haute cuisine, I immediately understood that it was a privileged relationship, that such different areas could find a solid meeting point in the love for  detail, in the desire to renew itself, perfecting itself, surpassing itself where possible!

Preferably, I introduce myself to the Chefs in person with my creations; the relationship enriches: if on the one hand I am made aware of points of view that would otherwise escape me, their specific requests, objections, allow me to improve and push myself further. My goal becomes to enhance their creations, engaging in understanding the different styles, resulting original without deviating from the refined.

But on an emotional level, when I have irons and brushes in my hand, the plate becomes the canvas of my painting, the score of my song, the page of my story.
